The basic idea of making the updated rulebook available as a free .pdf
download is laudable (quite a few people are complaining that GZG
*hasn't*
done this with FT yet <g>), and so is putting the proposed rules changes
up
for discussion and feedback on the Specialist Games BB web forum (kinda
reminiscent of how this mailing list operates... <g>).

But yeah, some of the rules changes have been pretty drastic - not so
much
to the BB core rules, but many of the gainable skills have changed quite
a
bit. For me who upgraded straight from 2nd edition to LRB5 it came as
quite
a shock to find that I could no longer toss a 'fling further than a
Short
Pass, for example... :-(

Well, getting rid of rules that the players hate isn't *that* bad a
thing
to do IMO ;-)

I rather liked that particular change - turning wizards from "pay a
fixed
sum now and blast one enemy player per match for the rest of eternity"
feature to something you can only afford to hire occasionally seems like
a
*very* good change for me who, being a 'fling coach, could never hire
wizards anyway <VBG>
