In the multiple times I've used off table 
artillery, I have used figures to represent the 
battery. (Schreck PPC carriers as a size 4, Long 
toms as a size 5 duplex vehicle or fixed 
emplacement (hardened site) artillery from Ogre. 
It's really interesting how a pair of armoured 
fixed site guns like those from Ogre are a tough 
nut to crack for counter battery. ;-)
