I've been thinking out that as well. If we consider each section to be
the
equivalent of a squad member, using the SGII randomisation method should
work. Of course, over 12 sections you're using a d20, so probably a few
rerolls.
I've also been thinking about the range band effects.
Close Range: target specific sections (full AV)
Medium Range: randomised section (full AV)
Long Range: randomised section (-1 AV for plunging direct fire)
