[GZG] Patrimonium Petrl - Papal High Guard

Subject: [GZG] Patrimonium Petrl - Papal High Guard

Gzg-l mailing list"staremu" came up
with the idea for the Catholic Church to have it's own world, I came up
with the idea for it to have it's own fleet with ship class nomenclature
based on classifications of angels. Then James Hiegel converted the
Battle Fleet Gothic Imperial ships to FT.

Since the ships looked rather like gothic cathedrals, I thought they
would be perfect for a star-spanning Catholic battle fleet.

The real inspiration for the Patrimonium Petrl was Rex Harrison's
portrayal of Pope Julius II in the movie "The Agony and the Ecstacy".
The idea of a pope being head of the Church & general in the field was
exciting. And I thought that the Patrimonium Petrl would be welcome in
the Tuffleyverse. It would act as counter-balance to the Islamic
Federation, and it would allow FT players who previously played Battle
Fleet Gothic to press their old BFG miniatures into service, adding a
little "Warhammer 40K" excitment to the Tuffleyverse.

(The miniatures are still available through the Games Workshop website
under specialty games or through your local gaming shop - order now!)

The personnel of the Papal High Guard is a mixture of the priesthood
operating as the officer class, and enlisted lay people as crew. Ranks
of ratings are called Acolyte 3rd, 2nd, & 1st class - Petty Officers &
Warrent Officers are called Deacons - Ensign & Lieutenant grades are
called Father - Commanders are called Monsignor - Captains are Bishop &
Archbishop - and the Admiral ranks are Cardinals.

Now for the ships of the Papal High Guard. Nomenclature follows the
classifications of angels.

(People will reply that I got the angels in reverse order - Understand
that the fleet performs as Angels on the material plane, mirroring the
Kingdom of Heaven - but since it MIRRORS the Kingdom of Heaven, the
order is reversed.)
