Yes, but it does so in a controlled manner unlike a
conventional cartridge. Instead of a BANG it is more
of a b--a--n--g so you get a slower push. The
advantage is that you can use a thinner and lighter
barrel as the pressure is much lower, you don't get
the same peak pressure you get with a conventional
cartridge. Powder composition and design can help but
this is another solution and is getting OT from an
already OT topic. A facinating one though.
