The Gyrojet was a miniature rocket launcher, not a counter-mass
firing "recoilless gun", so the efflux problem was very much less.
The smooth-bore barrel was perforated and the low-ish pressure
exhaust gasses from the rocket were vented sideways. Even so, I'd
have wanted to wear goggles while firing one, especially the Gyrojet
carbine where the barrel would have been closer to my face.
