G'day,

Saw the following in New Scientist today and thought some would be
interested.

This one is a more "could this become a weapon/neat kit" rather than
already a weapon/neat kit of other form (e.g. comms or sensors):
Alchemy with light shocks physicists 
"The researchers document the ultimate control over light: a way to
shift the frequency of light beams to any desired colour, with near 100
per cent efficiency."
