If you've got a few centuries of technical development to play with,
it'd be
a lot easier to just say they use some sort of ceramic barrels and skip
the
cooling entirely. Barrel might get a little warm, though...

(real life: the ceramic engine parts used today to not require cooling,
but
are extremely sensitive to thermal and physical shock: in other words,
sudden changes in temperature or being hit).
