The East Coast Con was a blast. I'd never played FMA before, and only
had a couple of Stargrunt and Dirtside games under my belt, so I didn't
quite know what to expect for the "Victorian Pirates" (Nick Caldwell)
and "Terminator III" (Aaron Newman) FMA games. They were a *lot* of
fun, and I'm glad I decided to only sign up for one Full Thrust game
this year and broaden my horizons...
So here are a couple of brief AARs for those two events, from my POV of
course:
In "VP", Teddy Roosevelt and his Rough Riders (who I split with another
player) and some US Navy sailors and Marines (including individual
balloon airborne infantry!) barely fought off some evil cultists and
their summoned cthulhoid creatures in the little New England town of
Innsmouth. The Rough Riders got ridden a little roughly though...
Somehow a reptilian creature with bow and arrow caused a particularly
gruesome death, quite stressing out the RRs. Of course, when Cpl.
Johnson went into the building the reptoids were holed up in, and all
that came back out was his dismembered arm, well, that didn't help
either....
Ship-to-shore artillery obliterated the church where a monstrous
creature had spawned, along with the nearby sailor with the experimental
wireless telegraph. Unable to call off the bombardment, the others fled
after Smitty, who conveniently went insane the round before and was
running off gibbering.
In the end, Teddy and his gang rescued one hostage held by the cultists,
and the Marines were working their way into the underground caverns,
either to rescue another hostage or die a gruesome death....
"T3" saw 4 human bands protecting the time machine used to send
terminators and humans / reprogrammed terminators back into the past.
Things got ugly when termies, desguised as members of the various
groups, sprang into action... I played Mad Donna's biker chick gang,
who although suffering heavily, kicked termie butt. Lara Croft took out
one termie with a most excellent double pistol shot before going down,
and Mad Donna took on the biggest baddest termie with her power sword,
nearly reducing him to a pile of smoldering circuits, but unfortunately
got cut down by the sparking, malfunctioning hulk the next round.
Although the termies were closing in, their numbers were sufficiently
reduced and it was decided that the humans would most likely be able to
regroup and hold off the remaining termies long enough for the time
machine to complete its task and ensure a brighter future for humanity.
Cheers,
