Subject: [SG] Scenario: Redhawk Down
Thinking about someone's request a couple of weeks ago for "a really bad
army", and Blackhawk Down sprang to mind. You could just as well make
it
cover Gordon at Khartoum or any similar situation, though.
Yellowdog spaceport: a more wretched hive of scum and villainy...but all
well armed, and stupidly brave. Unlimited numbers of squads, all 10-12
men, QD4, FP2, armor d4, 50% chance of one IAVR, 10% chance of a GMS/P,
no
other support weapons, no leaders. When a squad gets down to about half
size, it can reorganize with another squad and they're back in business.
If you're running this as a two player game, the Yellowdogs will be
NPCs.
The NAC and the UN can each activate 2 Yellowdog squads for every one of
their own units.
In the middle of this mess is a missionary nursing school, defended by
the
NAC's Red Devils. The Red Devils are the roughest, toughest, baddest
troops ever, and they don't hesitate to let you know it. They have
snake
for breakfast and glass and nails for dinner, etc etc. They were going
to
extract the babes...excuse me, nursing students...but their assault
transport got hit by a missile and now it looks like they'll have to
walk.
Or...they could wait for the Blue Beanies to come and get them out, but
they'd never live it down.... QD10 or 12, FP3 weapons, six man squads
with
support weapons as needed. Limited ammo: if a support weapon rolls a 1,
it's out of ammo.
The UN station's military unit happens to have been provided by the FSE.
Zey are not lahk zese, how you say, rowdy children of ze NAC. Zey are
professionals. Zey will show zese Anglais how it is done... QD8, use
the
platoon in the book, with APCs.
The UN starts on the east edge, the NAC starts on the west edge, hordes
of
Yellows start randomly (stand at the end of the table and toss a handful
of
Yellow chips towards the other end). NAC wants to get their unit and
the
nurses at least to the center of the board before the UN troops get to
them.
