Foreigners aren't the only one to make that mistake. The massacre at
Fort
Pillow only set the resolve of Black Union troops during the Civil War.
Far
from making them fearful, it meant that pressed into a desperate
situation
they would fight to the last man. This resulted in Blacks fighting
desperately
and honourably at Port Hudson, Petersburg, and other battles.
