Could you elaborate on this ?

I haven't data on the M4A3E8 handy, but

has data as far as the M4A4.

The M4's front hull armour is marginally thicker than the T34-85's,
elsewhere the T-34 has thicker armour, including the turret.
The M4 gun has a smaller caliber than the T34.

Doesn't seem like the Sherman was obviously superior.

How was the M4A3E8 better than a T-34/85 ?
