THE DOWNBELOW STATION UNIVERSE of CJ CHERRYH is a VERY entertaining
series of  works that details  space warfare and  trade among other
things.

WE ALL DIED AT BREAKAWAY STATION,  author  un emembered, is an EXCELLENT
book about the	desperate defense of a FTL COMMUNICATIONS  RELAY
STATION.

DAVID DRAKE"S FORLORN HOPE and ACROSS THE STARS are interesting. the
first is a ground  combat novel, with marooned	mercs  fighting  for
survival.  and the ther is ULYSSES IN SPACE or SHIT THAT HAPPENED WHILE
I TRIED TO GO HOME basically.
