Water and sewage removal are not luxuries.  If you cannot site your
privy a safe
minimum distance from everybody's well, you will need to pipe it
somewhere.  I
am told that in the medievil towns that dumped stuff out into the

the optimism that the rain would wash it clean, only maintained their
