In my universe, yes.  

A highly unlikely European Union intervention into the Northern Ireland
situation fragmented the E.U., but led instead to the formation of a
League of Catholic States, spearheaded by France and Italy.  The
resultant Crusades in the outer planets of the Solar System led the LCS
to fight with first China and then British and Russian outposts there.

No relevance to the GZGverse, but there are Crusaders-In-Space out
there,
including squadrons of the Swiss Guard in heavy fighters.
