A long time ago (FT2/MT), I had a species that used missiles and nano
technology.
The missile delivered packets of nanites that were programed to
dismantle
the ship.
Armor was especially consumed as it contained molecules targeted by the
nanites.
So 2 ablative armor was removed for every damage point it absorbed.
