Thanks for the report.	It is an interesting technology. The "severe"
morale effect is just marketing hype. Wish Jon A. was on the list still
- I
am sure he would be able to say this better than I, but, the same effect
is
already available in "Claymore" style mines. I don't think this is any
extra frightening than those or even of RecRifles with Beehive rounds
which
can annilate unprotected troops at a good range.

I like the Rifle idea but I wonder about the recoil effect. If the
rounds
are small then perhaps it doesn't add up so bad with short bursts.
However,
Dr. Newton says that there is a mean limit on how much mass at such and
such
a rate can be kicked out before the recoil/momentum exceeds safe user
limits.

It would make one hell of a sniper rifle. (As if the 9th Inf. needed to
be
any more deadly - they greatly increased their sniper arm while training
in
Italy this past decade as the division commander envisioned that the
sniper
rifle would be the king of battle should anything happened in the
Balkans.
He almost got a chance to prove his theory out as we all know.)

Too bad there are only a few variables to modify with weapons in SGII.
Fire
Power and Impact are the main ones and there already are some rediculous

weapons in that category. Perhaps increasing the range band by a factor
of
2 to represent the greater accuracy?

I can see how the larger unit would be useful in firefighting.	Once the

firefight starts, flip the switch, wait a second, then turn the beast
off.
The firefight is now over. ;-)

The tactical isn't flawed, IMO, but it is more abstracted.

It would work pretty well once you translated MC (Mega Credits) into
CV points.

However, it will be a while before the opponents meet each other
(since SF assumes that each race starts out just having discovered
Warp Points).

Also, by default, there is the chance to meet Non Player Races so you
might want to have some way to quickly build different alien races
(maybe create "style sheets" for a bunch at the beginning and then
randomly pick when they come up). Then you have to find a way of
resolving combats with NPRs (usually an "uninterested party" plays the
NPR).

Is there a direct URL for this? For some reason I can't get at Dean's

it keeps making my browser fall over....
