Good idea - I forgot about that option! Now I'll have to dig out the
game
and look it over again.

In FT the missiles can all be launched from the ship itself in a single
salvo - simply use SMRs and/or MTMs instead of SML/magazine
combinations.

'Course, you *can* design an engine-less, Fragile-hulled "ship"
containing MTMs, SMRs or SML/mag comboes and carry them around on FTL
tenders, but it doubts me an it be effective :-/

On the subject of HH style towed missile pods, I used a system for this
in a
game I played, but using MT rules and missiles (not FB1 style).

The system works out that each pod weighs 5 mass (1 mass for the pod, 4
mass
for the missiles), and can be controlled by the towing ship at the ratio
of
1 F.Con per 10 pods. I also assume that the ships drive can tow the
pods,
but the pods reduce the efficiency of the towing ships drive. The ratio
I
work by is that the towing`s ships thrust is reduced by 50% for towing a
mass of 25% of the ship (a 100 mass ship could tow 5 pods, at half
thrust),
and reduced by 75% for towing a mass of 50% of the ships mass. To
represent
the limited protection of the pod, outside the ships sheilds and
radiation
protection, any fire directed at the ship that rolls any thing but a 1,
destroys the die rolled minus 1 number of pods. This roll for the number
of
pods destroyed is only rolled for any shots that miss the towing vessel.
The
theory is that any shots that hits the ship, the ship protects the pods
from
the beam. Missiles can be targeted at either pods or ships, and if
targeted
at pods, the amount of dammage/missiles after PDS is the number of pods
destroyed. Area effect weapons (nova cannons, wave guns, plasma bolts)
destroy all the pods. Hope this gives you ideas.
