How much of WWI artillery was airburst ? 
I thought much of it was ground-burst to dig out entrenched troops.

What damage will air-bursts do to the ground ? 

They sure will wreck havoc with vegetation and the flimsier buildings, 
but I thought earth-moving would be limited.

Questions for the more expert among you ;-)
