Mostly it's the "getting around to it" that takes a while.  You can
spray them with a gold base coat and a teal top coat pretty quickly, and
I haven't had any good ideas on detailing them beyond that aside from
doing the ship names in Arabic script on the hull.  That will take a
while longer, I concede.
