Subject: EW systems
How about this for a EW systems for FT.
1-Represent all ships in the area with bogey markers.
2-Different sensors (basic/advanced) allow you to replace the bogey with
the
ship in question at different ranges.
3-The EW systems reduce this range, depending on the sensors used
against
it.
4-Decoy`s can be used that mimic the mothership`s emmisions, replacing
one
bogey with say 4 bogey`s (mothership + 3 decoy`s).
5-A good EW system allows you to enter, for example, long range of
missiles
(MT or ER SML`s). With 4 identical bogey`s to chose from, you split your
fire to cover 4 possible targets, therefore wasting 3/4 of your launch.
6-It could also work against long range energy weapons, giving shorter
ranged weaponed ships a chance to dammage a large gun ship before being
vaped.
The ranges, masses, costs need to be thought out yet. The idea is to
keep it
as simple as originally stated in the FT rules, but allowing EW systems
to
be used in the actual combat instead of trying to bluff your opponent
into
running away.
Comments anyone?
