I personally have my own game history that does not include a UK
takeover... 
In fact, in it, the UK is down to just England - Ireland, Scotland, and 
Wales have all gone their merry Celtic ways. The story line that makes
it 
possible is a bit of a stretch, improbable but not impossible. Also, the
US 
is split up, but for the most part quite bloodlessly (At least at
first).  
It's not on any URL, but if you contact me off list, I'd be happy to
explain 
the whole setup.
