I know Nathan Pettigrew was doing some work on a Japan background for
FT.
I'm not sure if he's still into it, though. From pre-FTL days, there's a
canon relationship with Japan and the Gilderstein foundation, which I
took
forward in time to develop into good relationships between NI and Japan.
Some New Israeli fleet designs are collaborations with Japan
(Sheir/Karakau,
Maccabee/Samurai, Mac-II/Ronin). Bits of of background are peppered
