There are large multi-wheeled lightly armored artillery vehicles.  The
South
African G6 (155 mm gun with 18 km and 39 km range and max steel armor of
23 mm)
and Czech Dana 152 (152 mm gun with 18 km and 24 km range and max steel
armor of
12.7 mm) and the Russian 2S23 (120 mm gun/mortar with 8 km range and max
steel
armor of 15 mm).  I would argue that anyone of these current vehicles
justify
class 1 armor (protection from small arms and shell fragments) and the
G6 class
2 armor over the frontal arc (protection from small arms, shell
fragments, and
light autocannons) .  Your artillery vehicle sounds interesting.  Any
chance you
could get some photos up on the web???
