Landers - what are they? and FT/SG crossover

Subject: Landers - what are they? and FT/SG crossover

Keep in mind, small or large sized landers are pretty gross in terms
of armour. A small lander can have SG2 class 5 armour I would think
(when you can make a tank fly, the concept of a wimpy plane goes
away - no longer are air vehicles brittle one you have good AG). I
hate to think of how to convert FT weapon systems to SG2.

Any suggestions of how to convert various beams, torps and missiles,
to an SG2 battlefield equivalent? Keep in mind the RL size of the FT
ships (small). And the armour levels?

This assumes that for some ungodly reason you might want an FT ship to
interact with your SG board.

I'd try the following:
Class 1 Beam - Class 5 weapon (HEL? DFFG?), point targetted. 1 RB for
all targets.
PDS - Class 3 weapon (HEL or MDC), point targetted. 1 RB for all
targets.
Class 2+ Beam - some type of arty.
Missiles - some type of arty.

Conversions:
Shields: Treat each level as 5 levels of armour in SG2 - but hits that
fail to penetrate don't even reach the real hull or armour. No non
penetrating effects.
Armour: Treat each box of armour as 5 levels of armour. This isn't a
great translation, as FT armour effectivley ablates. Treat a basic
hull as 3 levels of armour.
PDS: Roll vs any incoming missile, 1d6. On 1-4, the missile is
destroyed. The only reason they might sneak through is they are small
enough to make targetting difficult. GMS/P cannot be targetted. Roll
once per PDS system. Class 1 batts are not accurate enough for use in
this role vs these weapons.
