It's a great book. But if your cheap go visit the hobby shop and look at
the 
backs of all those beautiful 1/35th scale modesl you wish someone would
make 
in 1/72nd. Lots of good ideas, to take home in your head. I paint a base
coat 
in appropriate color and use interlocking vari-sized shape irregular
ovals. 
It's fun to paint them like intersecting rings where they over lap at 
different levels in the depth of the painting.
