Seriously, though, I haven't noticed a thread on this.

You mean "current" as opposed to "future" politics, presume.

--again, I don't recall seeing a thread on this.  Two comments, one of
which
was on topic, the other of which I castigated at the time.  Any
realistic
future history is going to have religion in it, although we may ignore
it.

As in "The US is better than any five of you socialist countries so who
cares what you think?"	I haven't seen anything like that on this list. 
On
the other hand we have had Southerners crying "Long live the
Confederacy"
and other people espousing their own region--and I think it would be
impossible to stop this  ("Hey, I'm talking about the New Confederate
Stars
here") and stifling to try.
