I used StereoStar to make *all* the maps in that
web site. It is a versatile program.
It is strained a bit though making the huge maps.
I did embellish the maps with Adobe Photoshop, though.
StereoStar can make *.bmp files only.
In m15nom.gif I used Photoshop to make the legend
in the upper left corner.
For m15.gif, I actually made two maps
(one with all the star and paths in grey,
the second with class M stars excluded)
merging the two maps with Photoshop.
I'm about 1/3 done with the political map.
It is done in the style of the "core" map,
i.e., black background, pretty stars, labeled
with that font (Wolverine) in the "official"
colors.
Of course the political map will be periodically
updated as I add everybody's empires.
