Just a few comments,
Somewhere in the rules it states that maximum jump distances are about 1
LY. So unless the stars are very close together or you have a string of
relay ships, communication will still be the speed of starship. Even
with a string of relay ships, jump exit points are not exact; so the
relay ships will have to locate each other and close to good
communication range to pass on the data.
As far as pirate (privateer) tactics go, I read an interesting book
which described a pirate attack. The victim ship was attacked by a
small fast warship, big enough to induce its' target to surrender or
wish it had. When the target ship is subdued, a bulk carrier comes in
and everything is offloaded onto it. The bulk ship goes back to its'
pirate base while the raider links up with another cargo vessel and goes
hunting again.
