Nope, that's exactly what he said: "Nuts." There was a thread about
this on soc.history.war.world-war-ii just about a week or two ago.
When the German officer didn't know what it meant, he was told that it
meant the same as, "Go to Hell." The German then expressed regret at
the civilian losses this would cause.
