That's the Heisenberg uncertainty principle: the act of observing
a system affects the system being observed.

*Occam's* razor is the principle that if there are more than one
explanation for a given phenomenon, the simplest explanation is
(most likely) the correct one. Also called the "Sword of Margola"
(IIRC) in Nightfall.
