For the 614, the "official" way (ie: the way our display model looks!)
is
that the two rectangular "blocks" (Fighter docking bays) go on the upper
decking, amidships, one to port and one to starboard. The "bridge"
section
has a location aft on the deck - if you fiddle around with it you'll see
it
actually fits neatly between various bits of detailing. The additional
flight deck strip fits to the starboard side of the forward hull. Any
small
detailing pieces you have been supplied with (radars, weapons etc) can
be
put wherever you like (Note: the exact contents may vary depending on
whether this is a GZG (UK supplied) or GeoHex (US) kit).

The 505 does indeed have a ventral fin aft, but the 505A (Missile
variant)
does not. This may be the cause of the confusion.
