Total Free Spaceship Strtategy Game

I don't have one, but I was wondering if any exist.
I like full thrust, hense I read this list, but from looking
at various web pages, I amazed at home many people have begun
to rewrite the FT rules for B5 or whatever. Some of these rewrites 
seem quite good.

Has anyone created a free set of rules that have any level of 
internet support? When I first thought of this I figured, why
would anyone do it for free, but lots of people write quality software
for free. I suppose they do it for recognition and the love of it.
