The closest that I've found to a description of bug size is on page
181-182.
My page reference is from the Ace Paperback version of the book:

"I thought with annoyance that each man already had to patrol fourteen
square miles; spreading the butter so thin meant seventeen square miles
per
man - and a Bug can come out of a hole less than five feet wide."

Looks like Heinlins bugs are alot smaller than the movie's.
