Another option:
Design a chart (like the 'beta' version below) and have both players
roll at
the beginning of the combat phase; each player resolves all attacks from
all
ships with that weapons type (for their fleet) and then "scroll through"
the
remainder of the list until all possibilities have been exhausted (if
you
reach the bottom before all weapons have fired, roll back to the top of
the
list until you end up where you started); weapons not possessed by a
particular fleet are skipped. This will lead to some wildly different
games...
Use 2 6-sided dice
DR Weapon
2 Needle Beams/AA megabatteries
3 Submunitions/Scatterguns
4 Pulse Torpedo
5 Missiles
6-7 A-C beams
8 PDAF/ADAF
9 Rail Guns
10 Fighters
11 Boarding
12 Nova Cannon/Wave Gun
... and takes the "me too" factor out of the equation. True, it also
takes
away a critical command decision, but... well, play with it and see what
you
think.
