Stargunt II Leader Loss

Subject: Stargunt II Leader Loss

Hello all,

After playing my 5th. game of Stargrunt II, the best game I've ever
played
for sci-fi skirmish level, I noticed a quirky thing happening.	From
what I
understand, level 1 leaders are supposed to be exceptional and one would
expect them to be the "cream of the crop". In our games of Stargrunt, I
notice that when one of our hapless leaders "buys the farm", he is all
to
often replaced with a leader of the same level. That squad that started
the battle with a level 1 leader has had 3 leaders fragged, but he's
still
level 1. We figured that the average leader would be level 2 and most
leader replacements would tend to gravitate toward the average leader
level. Instead fo the current leader loss replacement roll, 1-2 worse
3-5
same and 6 better, we replaced it with the following. It is based on
the
level of the leader that got fragged.

     LV Leader loss roll
      1 1-5 one level worse, 6 same
2 1-2 one level worse, 3-5 same, 6 one level better
      3 1-4 same, 5-6 one level better

Our reasoning was....A level 1 leader would be exceptional and would be
hard to replace but he might have inspired someone in his squad. A
level
2 leader would be the average and could be replace either way.	A level
3
leader would be rather poor, so in most likleyhood the squad itself
would
probably not be much better but again, there might be some inspired
individual. After trying this table, we found that losses in your
officer
corps, could be detrimental in the effectiveness of your force. This
also
makes snipers even deadlier. If you start losing your leaders,
especally
in a campaign, it can really start to hurt. If anyone else gives this a
try, let me know what your results are.

Thanks,
Jerry
