So you basically halved your original damage proposal and that's it? Ok,
I've outlined why I don't like the idea (trigonometric calculations
during
play, enveloping 2D attacks in 3D space, infinite damage potential and
odd
situations), so I'll let it rest. 

If you don't think those are problems, that's fine by me.
