Hi to everyone one the mailing list - having been lurking around for a
couple of weeks now, I thought it was about time I let everyone know I
was
actually on-line at long last. I wanted to wait till the new copyright
and
intro message had been sorted out, and make sure no-one had any problems
with that side of things - it all seems OK, so I'm out of lurk mode at
last!
I look forward to being able to take an active part in the list
discussions as and when time permits, as well as posting any bits of
news
that might be of interest - I don't want to offend anyone by using the
list
for what could be seen as advertising, so please let me know what sort
of
info you would like and what would be acceptable practice.
Just for information, the following is a little about GZG:
Addresses: email: jon@gzero.dungeon.com
Snailmail: Ground Zero Games, PO Box 337, Needham Market, Suffolk, IP6
8LN, UK.
Ground Zero Games has been running as a full-time business for just over
five years now, and was a part-time setup for a good few years before
that.
Up until late last year GZG was strictly a one-man business (ie: me, Jon
Tuffley), but in the last few months a good friend of mine, Dave
Garnham,
has joined me to help out on the production side. Between the two of us
we
hope to be able to get a bit more new product out this year, in both
models
and publications. We are still, of course, a VERY small company and
still
very much gamers at heart (though not as active on the gaming side as
I'd
like to be - I always seem to be too busy writing the stuff to actually
play any of it...).
Mike Elliott, who some of you may know from this list, is not a GZG
employee - he is a good friend who has been of invaluable (and unpaid!)
help in rules development and in representing GZG on the net,
voluntarily
giving his valuable time with the only recompense being some resin &
metal
occasionally! I know that Mike is now unable to access this list as
often
as he used to (due to a change of work location within his company), so
perhaps I can now answer directly some of the stuff that previously was
directed to him for referral to me.
Most of you will know that GeoHex are GZG's US licensee, producing most
of
our ranges under license for sale in the USA, Canada and S.America. For
the
Australian market, Eureka Miniatures in Victoria fulfils a similar role.
With the exception of the rulebooks (which are printed in the UK and
shipped over), all product that you buy in the USA has been made over
there
by GeoHex from masters supplied by us.
The FULL THRUST ship line was originally sculpted by Paul Copeland of CM
Designs in the UK, in collaboration with us. In July last year, Paul
sadly
had to retire from the miniatures business due to ill health, and GZG
bought out all the Full Thrust and Future Wars miniatures lines, so they
are now all officially GZG products. We are now starting to add to the
FT
ranges again, with Dave Garnham having just sculpted some very nice
Sa'Vasku Bioships for me - don't worry, they'll be slithering their way
to
GeoHex for US release very soon....
I've rambled on enough for this first posting - looking forward to the
mail
with interest....
All the best to everyone,
Jon Tuffley (GZG).
PS: BTW - particularly for UK subscribers - I've just got the '97
catalogue
back from the copyshop today! £1.50 inc. p&p (or 5 international reply
coupons for overseas mail). Hope that doesn't constitute being too
commercial... :)
