Interesting idea, however, current data links enable a ship to share
track
data.  This is different than a fire control solution, but I'm sure
technology will change that...	This would mean that if one ship in the
link
has a fire control solution, they all do...  Better to call this item a
Data
Link and make it expensive but only 1 mass.  Any ship that has the link
may
provide a track to any other ship in the link and vice versa.  You still
have
to denote which fire control systems is tracking what target for the
designating ships...
  This is primarily what the B5 fighters were for anyway.  They remove
the
fighter screen, get a track on the capital ship and give it to the
mother
ship...  Away goes the missiles, heavy PPGs etc..
