This is the race of Solnoids. I'm not sure how they procreate.

The war has been going on for hundreds of years. I think nobody
can recall how it started. It might just be that being the onbly two
sentiant races around, they felt they had to obliterate each other.

I had liked the idea that they were beam weapons, and that the
ship's shields could work like a gravity lens and distort the beam. In
"Gall Force 2: Destruction", they are referred to as missiles.

Other than the obvious, a reason to have some nudity, it might
just
be a single-gender-culture thing.
Ironically, I had just started rewatching Gall Force in english. Last
night, was GF:3.
