Has anything 'official' been written anywhere about this?

Just as an aside (and very unofficially, since I use some house
rules on armour, and also because I couldn't give a damn what the
'official' background is anyway), I play NSL as using heavily armoured
(no shields) ships, with slow armoured escorts, but quite fast capital
ships (well, acceleration 4). Also heavy use of fighters as anti-fighter
weapons (ie interceptors) rather than in an attack role.
