Inertia, that is what is forcing me. New players come into the group;
what rules will they be able to buy: the new edition. You go to a con;
what system will be used: the new edition. A new supplement is written;
what edition will it be written for: the new edition. The list goes on
and the momentum builds until the old edition is forgotten. In a short
period of time the new edition will become the currency of the day,
regardless of whether or not it is better than the preceding edition.
