No. no 'infantry gun' mounts are needed. You can fire a rifle through
a slit, but your firepower will be limited as you will only have a
very few slits facing the enemy. Note that small arms can suppress
vehicles and buildings, preventing a squad inside from opening doors
and windows, disembarking, firing etc. Simply treat your vehicle as
a building with wheels.

Not sure. I presume that it works like DS2, with rolling  dice for
each weapon, but only a single die for the defender. Any hits are
resolved separately.

As you say, there is no facing, but if using a linear obstical, such as
a wall, I would not count them as 'in position'. They are still 'in
position' for units on the other side of the wall. They would not
have to get 'out of position' to shoot at the attackers, but would if
they wanted to charge them. It might be a good idea to come out of
position
and jump over that wall.

If the cover is a forest, or other non linear obstical, then this
problem
does not occur.

I'd say no activation. Have you considered using another squad to check
and move the wounded? My space Marine command squad spends most of it's
time doing that.
