Pulse mode thrusters

Hi all,

I'm trying to implement an alternate control method for
the shuttle. In short I want to allow the user to use
normal controls for translation and rotation or to use
a pulse mode, where each press of the joystick will
engage the thrusters only once and will not engage
the thrusters again until the user has let go of the
key or returned the joystick to its neutral position.

Does anyone have any idea how I could go about this?
I've thought about intercepting key presses by using the
two consumeKey callbacks in the sdk. But how about
for capturing joystick input? Does orbiter handle this
itself or does it translate the joystick input to a
corresponding keypress and process it as if the user
pressed a key??

Any other ideas on how I could do this?

Cheers,

Gary.
