Re: [GZG] [FB1/DS2] Size of standard fighters [TOBECLASSIFIED] [SEC=UNCLASSIFIED]
It also depends on whether you want launch/assault capabilities for your
vehicles (different between "hot load" and standard cargo unloading).
There was a big discussion in the archives ~ feb 2003? On the subject.
I've lost my notes (due to accidentally wiping my email system), but DS2
is still a valid basis to work on (at least for FT2 ships).
The standard fighter works out as ~size 4 (the DS2 fighters is a "light"
specialty fighter).
For FT2.5 ships, the discussion resolved down to 1 mass = 25 CS. The
basis of comparison was fighters.
ie: Size 4 = 20 CS; launch capacity = +50% = 30CS
FT2.5 fighter needs 1.5 mass for a hanger (which also includes
munitions/feul/repairs and other combat reloading needs) = 37.5 CS
