Am I missing something?

I do that all the time trivially.  It's only when you need to rotate a
formation that a problem occurs.  The linear thing is give the same
order to all the ships.

Okay, it IS two formations.  Now tell me what FT movement orders will keep
the screen in the correct position as the relative bearing between the heavy
