Not sure whether the "these" refers to JonMark's squad or the shuggoth. JM's squad was 6 elite troops including Leader-1, fast heavy power armor, FP3 Imp 12 gaus rifles, 2 support weapons and 3 IAVR. And high-powered (2 die shift) melee weapons.

The shoggoth was treated as a vehicle. If you disabled the vehicle and "killed the crew" (with d12 armor), then you killed the shoggoth. Otherwise it would regenerate.
