RE: [GZG] Re: Blue Sky Thinking

Coincidently, I've also had thoughts of writing up a sci-fi variant of
Flames of War. I really like their basing system.

Hi Jon,

My preference would be for your option 2. I've been looking at using DSII,
or attempting to morph a SF variant of Flames of War, as an option to play
this scale of game with this figure scale (15mm) as I find I no longer have
the time nor patience for games like Striker.

Fire teams of 3 - 4 figs and PA of 2 - 3 figs a stand or element sound good.

I've mounted some ESU naval infantry on FoW scale bases (50mm x 32mm) and
they look quite nice - I guess it depends on your ground scale as to whether

this base size is suitable.

Re option 1. There are freeware skirmish games around that look like GW
knock offs (similar stat layouts) but at this level, one could as well go
back to something like the Basic Traveller (or other RPG type) combat system

just as easily for a quick game.

There is obviously a fan base on this list for SGII and FMA but whether they

would be served by your suggested option 1, I don't know. It sounds as if
by having a 25mm/28mm scale option with Option 2, that the desires for a
bigger scale game will be met for the big boys, as well as letting them play

'storm the strong point' with SGII as it stands.

Regards

David
