Firstly, number of chits drawn.  2 x size 7 = 14 chits; 3 x size 5 = 15
chits; 5 x size 3 = 15 chits; 8 x size 2 = 16 chits; 12 x size 1 = 12 chits.
The triple turret is the best balance between total chits and reliable
damage.
Secondly, the chances of a kill *without* drawing a *boom* chit.  The
smaller the weapon, the less chance the weapon will do anything useful at
all.  And as Oerjan has said, you have a much greater chance of drawing a
"firer systems down" and losing your entire weapons load for no returns.

If, on the other hand, you loaded it down with 7 x heavy missiles = 28
chits.  Or a Superior ZAD + PDS + as many heavy missiles as will still fit.
