The Patrimonium Petrl is a break-away union from the FSE, and guards it's independence fiercely.  Since the Common Republic is poised to be a buffer between the PP & the FSE, hostilities are still possible, but very unlikely. 

Not wishing to have it's ministrations misconstrued as having a surreptitiously evangelical subtext, the Patrimonium Petrl chiefly allies with nations whose religious identity is predominately Catholic.  If asked, it will come to the aid of other Christian nations, but only if doing so is in the best interests of the PP. 

Since hostilities between the PP & the FSE are currently unlikely, and the FSE is a predominately Catholic nation, the PP is interested in normalizing relations with the FSE, and is requesting that the Common Republic act as intermediary in the negotiations.
